“Bleed for This” is a 2016 American biographical sports film directed by Ben Younger and starring Miles Teller, Aaron Eckhart, Katey Sagal, and Ciarán Hinds. The film is based on the true story of boxer Vinny Pazienza, who suffered a devastating spinal injury in a car accident but fought his way back to the top of the boxing world.
In the film, Miles Teller plays Vinny Pazienza, a talented and brash young boxer from Providence, Rhode Island. After winning the junior middleweight championship, he moves up a weight class to challenge for the world title. However, during a car accident, he suffers a broken neck and is told he may never walk again, let alone fight.
Determined to make a comeback, Vinny begins an intense rehabilitation process with the help of his trainer Kevin Rooney (played by Aaron Eckhart) and his family, including his mother Louise (played by Katey Sagal). Against all odds, Vinny eventually returns to the ring, defying the expectations of the medical community and his critics, and wins the junior middleweight championship once again.
“Bleed for This” received positive reviews from critics for its strong performances and inspiring story. However, it was a commercial disappointment, grossing just $6 million worldwide against a $16 million budget.
