“Blue Lagoon: The Awakening” is a made-for-television movie that premiered on Lifetime in 2012. It is a modern retelling of the classic novel “The Blue Lagoon” by Henry De Vere Stacpoole, which was first published in 1908.

The movie follows two high school students, Emma and Dean, who are stranded on a deserted island after a boating accident during a school trip in the Caribbean. As they try to survive and find a way back to civilization, they begin to develop feelings for each other. As time passes, Emma and Dean discover that they are not alone on the island and encounter a group of researchers who have been living there for years. The researchers reveal that they have been studying the effects of isolation on human behavior and offer to help Emma and Dean return home. Despite their growing feelings for each other, Emma and Dean must decide whether to leave the island and return to their normal lives or stay and explore their relationship further.
