“Blue Lagoon: The Awakening” is a made-for-television movie that premiered on Lifetime in 2012. It is a modern retelling of the classic novel “The Blue Lagoon” by Henry De Vere Stacpoole, which was first published in 1908.
The movie follows two high school students, Emma and Dean, who are stranded on a deserted island after a boating accident during a school trip in the Caribbean. The researchers reveal that they have been studying the effects of isolation on human behavior and offer to help Emma and Dean return home. The movie was directed by Mikael Salomon and stars Indiana Evans as Emma and Brenton Thwaites as Dean. It received mixed reviews from critics, but was generally praised for its beautiful setting and strong performances by the lead actors.
