Byzantium (2012)

“Byzantium” is a 2012 British-Irish horror film directed by Neil Jordan and written by Moira Buffini. The movie stars Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton as a mother and daughter vampire duo who have been on the run for centuries.

The story revolves around Clara (Gemma Arterton) and her daughter Eleanor (Saoirse Ronan), who are both vampires. They arrive in a small seaside town, seeking refuge from their past and looking for a place to call home. While Eleanor struggles with the morality of their existence and the need to keep their secret, Clara sees an opportunity to make a new life for themselves.

As the pair try to settle into their new surroundings, they are hunted by a mysterious organization known as the Brotherhood, who are determined to wipe out all vampires. Meanwhile, Eleanor befriends a sickly young man named Frank, played by Caleb Landry Jones, who becomes entangled in their dangerous world.

“Byzantium” received generally positive reviews from critics, with particular praise given to the performances of Ronan and Arterton, as well as Jordan’s direction. The film also received nominations for Best British Independent Film and Best Actress at the British Independent Film Awards.
