“Colombiana” is a 2011 French action-thriller film directed by Olivier Megaton and starring Zoe Saldana in the lead role. The film is produced by Luc Besson and follows the story of Cataleya Restrepo, a young woman who seeks revenge against the Colombian drug lords who killed her parents when she was a child.
The film begins with a young Cataleya witnessing the murder of her parents by a Colombian drug lord. She manages to escape and makes her way to the United States, where she is taken in by her uncle Emilio (Cliff Curtis), a gangster with ties to the drug underworld. Emilio trains her as an assassin, and she eventually becomes a skilled killer. As an adult, Cataleya (Zoe Saldana) sets out to avenge her parents’ death and takes down the drug lords one by one.
The film received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising Saldana’s performance and the action sequences, while others criticized the film’s lack of depth and formulaic plot. Despite this, the film was a commercial success, grossing over $61 million worldwide against a production budget of $40 million.
