“How to Train Your Dragon” is a 2010 computer-animated action-fantasy movie produced by DreamWorks Animation and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. The movie is based on the book of the same name by Cressida Cowell and follows the story of a young Viking named Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel), who dreams of becoming a dragon slayer like his father Stoick the Vast (voiced by Gerard Butler).

However, Hiccup’s life takes a drastic turn when he encounters a wounded dragon and instead of killing it, befriends it and learns that dragons are not the vicious creatures they were thought to be. With the help of his new dragon friend, whom he names Toothless, Hiccup begins to understand and appreciate the dragons, and eventually works to bring about peace between the dragons and the Vikings.

The movie was praised for its animation, characters, and storytelling, and was a box office success, grossing over $494 million worldwide. It also received numerous award nominations, including for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The success of the movie led to two sequels, “How to Train Your Dragon 2” in 2014, and “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” in 2019, as well as several spin-off TV series and shorts.
