“Magic in the Moonlight” is a romantic comedy film directed by Woody Allen and released in 2014. The story takes place in the 1920s and revolves around a skeptical magician named Stanley (played by Colin Firth), who is hired to debunk a young psychic medium named Sophie (played by Emma Stone) who is staying with a wealthy family on the French Riviera.
Stanley, who believes that Sophie is a fraud, is surprised to find himself falling for her as they spend more time together. However, as he becomes more emotionally involved with Sophie, he begins to question his own beliefs and wonders if there might be more to her abilities than he initially thought.
The film explores themes of love, rationality, and the supernatural, and features a talented cast that includes Marcia Gay Harden, Hamish Linklater, and Jacki Weaver. While not one of Woody Allen’s most critically acclaimed works, “Magic in the Moonlight” is still an enjoyable and lighthearted romp that is worth watching for its charming performances and beautiful setting.
