“Mars Needs Moms” is a 2011 American 3D computer-animated science fiction adventure film, based on the book of the same name by Berkeley Breathed. The movie follows the story of a young boy named Milo who discovers that Martians have kidnapped his mother and taken her to Mars to extract her maternal instincts and transfer them to their own hatchlings.
Determined to save his mother, Milo stows away on a spaceship and travels to Mars with the help of a rebellious Martian girl named Ki, who is also fighting against the strict and oppressive Martian society. On Mars, Milo must navigate through dangerous terrain, evade the Martian military, and outsmart the evil Martian ruler, the Supervisor, in order to rescue his mother before it’s too late.
The film features the voice talents of Seth Green, Dan Fogler, Joan Cusack, and Elisabeth Harnois. It was directed by Simon Wells and produced by Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, and Steve Starkey. Despite its impressive animation and visual effects, “Mars Needs Moms” was a box office disappointment and received mixed reviews from critics.
