Mr. Church (2016)

“Mr. Church” is a drama film released in 2016, directed by Bruce Beresford and written by Susan McMartin. The movie stars Eddie Murphy as Henry Church, a chef who is hired to cook for a family after the mother is diagnosed with breast cancer and given only six months to live. However, she defies the odds and ends up living for several more years, during which time Henry becomes an integral part of the family’s life.

The film explores themes of love, loss, and family bonds as Henry becomes a surrogate father figure to the young girl in the family, Charlie, played by Britt Robertson. The story is set in the 1970s and 1980s and features a strong soundtrack of soul and R&B music from that era.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, Eddie Murphy’s performance was widely praised, and the film was noted for its emotional depth and its depiction of the relationship between Henry and Charlie.
