Pirates of the Caribbean: At World‘s End is a 2007 fantasy adventure film directed by Gore Verbinski and the third installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. The film stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, and Geoffrey Rush. The plot follows the protagonists of the previous two installments as they attempt to rescue Captain Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones‘s Locker. The film was released in the United States on May 25, 2007, and received mixed reviews from critics. However, it was a box office success, grossing over $960 million worldwide, making it the highest–grossing film of 2007. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Makeup, and won the award for Visual Effects.
