“Priest” is a 2011 American action-horror film directed by Scott Stewart and starring Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, and Lily Collins. The film is loosely based on a graphic novel of the same name by Min-Woo Hyung.
The story takes place in an alternate universe where humans have waged a centuries-long war against vampires. The Church has created a group of elite warriors called Priests, who possess supernatural abilities and are tasked with protecting humanity from the vampire menace. The main character, Priest (played by Paul Bettany), is a legendary warrior who defies the Church’s orders and sets out to rescue his kidnapped niece (Lily Collins) from a group of vampires led by the powerful Black Hat (Karl Urban).
The film received mixed reviews from critics and was a box office disappointment, grossing only $78 million worldwide against a production budget of $60 million. However, it has developed a cult following among fans of the action-horror genre.
