“Runner Runner” is a 2013 crime thriller film directed by Brad Furman and starring Justin Timberlake, Ben Affleck, and Gemma Arterton. The movie follows Richie Furst (Timberlake), a Princeton student who loses his tuition money in an online poker game. In an effort to get his money back, he travels to Costa Rica to confront the website’s owner, Ivan Block (Affleck).
Block takes a liking to Richie and hires him as his personal assistant, but Richie soon discovers that Block’s empire is built on illegal activities. As Richie gets drawn deeper into the world of online gambling and crime, he must decide whether to continue working for Block or turn against him.
The movie received mixed reviews from critics and was a commercial disappointment, grossing only $62 million worldwide against a budget of $30 million. Despite the lukewarm reception, the performances of Timberlake and Affleck were praised by some critics.
