Tamara Drewe is a 2010 British romantic comedy drama film directed by Stephen Frears. It is based on the newspaper comic strip of the same name written by Posy Simmonds. The film stars Gemma Arterton, Roger Allam, Bill Camp, Dominic Cooper, Luke Evans, Tamsin Greig, and Jessica Barden. The film follows the story of Tamara Drewe, a young journalist who returns to her hometown in the English countryside, where her presence causes upheaval among the locals who remember her from her youth. It is set in modern–day Dorset in South West England and was filmed in Dorset and Surrey. The film premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival and was released in the United Kingdom on 22 October 2010.
