The Mauritanian is a 2021 legal drama film directed by Kevin Macdonald and based on the true story of Mohamedou Ould Slahi, a Mauritanian man who was held without charge in Guantanamo Bay detention camp for 14 years.
The film stars Tahar Rahim as Mohamedou, who is accused of being involved in the 9/11 attacks and subjected to torture and interrogation at the hands of the US government. Jodie Foster and Shailene Woodley co-star as his defense attorneys, who fight to secure his release and bring justice to his case.
