Trouble with the Curve (2012)

“Trouble with the Curve” is a 2012 sports drama film directed by Robert Lorenz and starring Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, and Justin Timberlake. The movie follows an aging baseball scout named Gus Lobel (Clint Eastwood) who is losing his eyesight and struggling to keep up with the changing world of scouting. Gus’s daughter, Mickey (Amy Adams), is an attorney who is concerned about her father’s health and well-being. Together with Johnny (Justin Timberlake), a young scout who has a romantic interest in Mickey, they embark on a scouting trip to North Carolina to evaluate a potential draft pick.

Throughout the film, Gus and Mickey’s strained relationship is explored, as Gus was absent for much of Mickey’s childhood due to his job as a scout. As they travel together, they encounter various challenges, including competing scouts and Gus’s declining health. Meanwhile, Johnny and Mickey begin to develop feelings for each other, adding another layer of complexity to their journey.

The film received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising Eastwood’s performance and the chemistry between the actors, while others criticized the predictable plot and lack of originality. Despite this, “Trouble with the Curve” remains a touching story about family, legacy, and the changing nature of America’s favorite pastime.
